ENDOLIFT: TREATMENT OF THE FACE
AND NECK SKIN LAXITY
True beauty lies in the beholder’s eyes
The ageing processes lead to a progressive laxity of the skin and all the soft tissues of the face and neck that occur with their sliding down. The method of endolift can be very useful in cases of moderate ptosis or in order to avoid a surgery. The optical fiber of 200 or 300 microns is inserted, without anaesthetic, directly under the surface of the skin of the cheeks and neck and is moved “forward and back” while the tip is the emits energy at the wavelength of 1470 nm. This wavelength is selective for water and its interaction with the tissues (the deep part of the dermis of the skin) causes the release of heat. The heat will cause contraction of the tissue and the synthesis of new collagen. The small diameter of the fiber and the low power of the emitted energy at every single pulse make the treatment practically painless. During the treatment, the skin surface can be cooled with air at -20 °C that makes the procedure even less uncomfortable. Swelling and minimal redness may be present for few days after the treatment. There have been reported cases of temporary deficiency of the marginal nerve, but, however, they were resolved without any long-term effects. The session can be repeated after some months to improve the obtained result.
