REJUVENATION OF THE BACK OF THE HANDS
True beauty lies in the beholder’s eyes
Aging of the hands is characterised by an increasingly skeletal appearance due to the reabsorption of subcutaneous adipose tissue, and also, for the same reason, an increasingly visible venous network. Sun spots (brown blemishes) appear on the skin, which appears atrophied, opaque and dull. The accumulations of pigment in the sun spots can be treated with Q-switched laser or pulsed light. The Q-switched laser causes fragmentation and elimination of the pigment. Pulsed light, although it eliminates less pigment, also generates heat which stimulates new collagen production. The combined use of these two technologies offers both the elimination of pigment and the synthesis of new collagen. The skeletal appearance of the hands can be corrected with filler implants or a lipofilling treatment.
